About This Course

This is a basic‑level Critical Core Skills course that introduces learners to the essential elements of presenting themselves professionally in both in‑person and online work settings. Learners will practise maintaining appropriate personal image and hygiene, applying social etiquette across diverse contexts, and engaging stakeholders through active listening and empathetic communication. The course also emphasises self‑reflection and self‑assessment as a basis for ongoing personal development. Selected digital and AI‑enabled tools may be used as optional support to help learners organise ideas, refine personal branding statements, and structure development plans, while reinforcing personal judgement, authenticity, and responsible use.

What you will learn

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Maintain standards of personal image and hygiene when interacting with stakeholders by adapting personal presentation appropriately for different professional contexts, supported by the responsible use of digital and AI‑enabled tools (Gemini, ChatGPT) to refine personal branding statements.

Demonstrate social etiquette skills to build and sustain positive working relationships, taking into account diversity dimensions and cultural preferences.

Listen and clarify with empathy during interactions by applying verbal and non‑verbal communication techniques that support understanding and constructive engagement.

Conduct self‑assessment of personal competencies by reflecting on learning experiences and stakeholder interactions, supported by the optional use of AI‑enabled tools to organise insights and develop structured personal development actions.
