Promoting an Inclusive Work Culture

This intermediate-level Critical Core Skills course helps learners develop the skills to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace by fostering cultural sensitivity and effective communication. Learners will explore strategies to build diverse teams, align organisational values with inclusive practices, and facilitate respectful conversations that promote mutual understanding. The course covers managing unconscious bias, adapting communication styles to diverse teams, and overcoming barriers to inclusion. Learners will strengthen their ability to monitor their behaviour, communicate effectively in diverse settings, and align personal values with organisational diversity goals. By promoting inclusivity, learners will enhance team collaboration and contribute to a more productive work culture.

What you will learn

This course equips learners with the skills to promote workplace diversity and inclusion by fostering cultural intelligence, improving communication, and reducing unconscious bias. Learners will be able to:

  • Develop Sensitivity Towards Differences – Identify barriers to workplace diversity and inclusion, convey cultural intelligence, and promote behaviours that support diversity and inclusion.
  • Establish Diverse Work Teams – Ensure diversity in team composition, communicate the organisation’s inclusive values, and apply social psychology and group dynamics strategies to promote inclusion.
  • Demonstrate Respect and Understanding – Adapt communication styles to diverse stakeholder needs, facilitate respectful conversations, and encourage mutual understanding.
  • Monitor and Improve Work Processes – Review own behaviour and work processes, apply strategies to reduce unconscious bias, and recommend improvements to support diversity and inclusion.

Key skills covered include cultural intelligence, stakeholder engagement, communication, and self-monitoring. Learners will also develop proficiency in managing unconscious bias, facilitating team conversations, and applying group dynamics strategies to enhance workplace inclusion. Techniques such as facilitating team conversations and applying group dynamics strategies serve as practical tools to support diversity and inclusion.

Minimum Requirement

  •  Education: Higher NITEC; GCE O; GCE A; Diploma graduates
  • Literacy/Numeracy level: WPLN Level 5
