In this beginner course, participants will have a comprehensive overview of the basics of smartphone photography. Learners will develop proficiency in operating smartphone cameras, understanding and applying camera settings and accessories, ensuring safety compliance, planning, and communicating detailed shot requirements, demonstrating versatile photography techniques, and applying cinematography principles to achieve creative and technical excellence in smartphone photography. The program covers essential topics such as smartphone camera features and accessories, safety handling and inspection, and the fundamental principles of framing, composition, and cinematography. By the end of the course, budding smartphone photographers will have acquired a solid foundation in the key aspects of smartphone photography.

What you will learn

Participants will be able to:

Operate and control a smartphone camera, applying the principles of framing, composition, and cinematography
Demonstrate appropriate camera settings, features, positions, perspectives, and angles for taking photos by utilizing the built-in features of a smartphone camera
Differentiate smartphone camera accessories based on their specifications, features, and functions by recognising the use cases of different accessories
Inspect smartphone cameras for compliance with safety regulations and procedures before use by applying the methods used in inspecting and cleaning smartphone cameras
Create a shot plan that communicates the creative and technical requirements of a photo shoot to the production team

Minimum Requirement

Education level is likely to be GCE ‘N’ Credit (at least C6) in English or WPLN score of Level 3 for Reading, Speaking, Listening, Writing and Numeracy, or
With at least a lower secondary education or its equivalent.
Must own a smartphone
