This intermediate-level Critical Course Skills course equips learners to resolve workplace issues using structured problem-solving approaches enhanced by digital and AI tools. Learners will gain skills in guiding teams with decision-making frameworks, pinpoint root causes, and craft solutions that meet stakeholder needs. They will also learn how technology accelerate testing, risk analysis, and evaluation — helping reframe problems, prioritise decisions, and simulate stakeholder feedback for faster, smarter outcomes. Relevant across industries, this course supports career advancement by building competencies in innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement — key to driving effective problem-solving and organisational impact.

What you will learn

This course empowers intermediate learners to resolve workplace issues through structured problem-solving approaches supported by digital and AI tools. Learners will explore decision-making frameworks, root cause analysis, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement strategies. By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

Apply Technology-Driven Problem-Solving Approaches – Guide co-workers to adopt effective problem-solving approaches to meet business goals.

Determine Workplace Problem Causes and Effects – Determine the root causes and effects of a workplace problem using appropriate technology per organisation SOP.

Generate Stakeholder-Aligned Solutions – Generate possible solutions which are aligned to stakeholders’ needs.

Test Solutions Using Organisational Technology – Use relevant technology available in the organisation to test out the selected solution.

Assess and Improve Workplace Solutions – Evaluate the problem-solving process and solution using pre-defined criteria.

Key aspects covered include technical skills and knowledge in applying structured problem-solving approaches using digital tools, with an introduction to AI applications such as ChatGPT, Lucidchart AI, Canva, and Gemini. These tools support the development of skills in decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement—covering techniques for diagnosing root causes, exploring and refining solutions, and assessing impact to enhance workplace processes and drive innovation.
