This 1-day course is designed to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle cleaning chemicals safely and effectively in a professional environment. Leaners will learn to identify symbols related to chemical safety, adhere to industry requirements for handling cleaning chemicals, understand the types and uses of common cleaning agents, and follow proper procedures for assembling and replenishing chemicals. Learners will also be trained to report incidents and respond appropriately to improper chemical usage.

This course is also one of the approved courses under the Progressive Wage Model’s (PWM) training requirements for the Cleaning industry.

What you will learn

At the end of the course, learners will be able to demonstrate knowledge / skills on the following:

• Identify common symbols on chemical safety and hazard and their meanings.
• State the industry requirements for handling cleaning chemicals.
• List the types and uses of common cleaning chemicals and their effects on various surfaces.
• Assemble appropriate cleaning chemicals and make timely replenishment per SOP.
• Secure cleaning chemicals safely in their suitable containers and load them onto the cart before cleaning.
• Prepare suitable cleaning chemicals at the worksite in assigned PPE.
• Report to the appropriate personnel when work cannot be carried out and/or incidents occur.
• Respond to incidents involving inappropriate use of cleaning chemicals per established protocol.
