This course is for beginners. It is designed for any participants seeking essentials skills for sustainable farming that include fundamentals in growing media, selection of plant materials, and guidelines for plant propagation. Its applicability spans in various industries, providing participants with knowledge in urban farming, upholding the requirements of sustainable agriculture, ensuring workplace safety, and fostering community engagement. The course aims to prepare participants for roles related to plant propagation. As the importance of sustainable farming grows, the acquired skills in efficient plant propagation not only enhance expertise but also improve employability and opportunities within the agricultural sector.

What you will learn

Participants will be able to:

  • Determine appropriate methods for plant propagation.
  • Recognize various type of plant materials and their handling procedures.
  • Exhibit knowledge in propagating media.
  • Perform aftercare to propagated plants ensuring effective water, nutrition, and aftercare provision.
  • Identify practices in housekeeping, hygiene, and waste management to minimize contamination risks in propagation areas.
  • Document propagation activities as a compliance.
  • Indicate workplace safety and health guidelines and practices.

Minimum Requirement

  1. Education level is likely to be GCE ‘N’ Credit (at least C6) in English or WPLN score of Level 3 for Reading, Speaking, Listening, Writing and Numeracy, or
  2. With at least a lower secondary education or its equivalent.
