About This Course

This is a basic‑level Critical Core Skills course that supports learners in building and managing a professional online presence using common digital platforms. Learners will practise creating accounts on job search platforms, applying data privacy and cybersecurity considerations, and using online information to develop and maintain an online resume. The course also introduces structured approaches to drafting a personal branding pitch and keeping profile information current. Selected digital and AI‑enabled tools (Gemini, ChatGPT) may be used to support drafting, organisation, and refinement of content, while emphasising accuracy, responsibility, and individual judgement.

What you will learn

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Create an account on a job search platform by following given instructions and applying basic digital terminology.
Apply data privacy and cybersecurity requirements to protect personal information when using online job search platforms and digital services.
Build an online resume by sourcing and assessing relevant information from search engines and online platforms, supported by the use of AI‑enabled tools (Gemini, ChatGPT) to identify keywords and organise content appropriately.
Draft a clear and appropriate branding pitch to present personal skills and experiences using suitable digital tools and communication channels, with optional AI‑enabled support to refine structure, clarity, and tone.
Update and organise online resume information to reflect new qualifications or achievements and support ongoing relevance, with optional use of AI‑enabled tools to review and refine content for consistency and search visibility.

Key skills covered include communication, adaptability, writing, resume building, personal branding, and online job search techniques, with the use of LinkedIn, Email applications, Google Docs, or MS Word, and other applications and tools.
